Blepharoplasty is carried out on the area of skin around the eyes that may become droopy, as a result of a condition known as droopy eyelids.
Droopy eyelids may display an excess of skin around the eyes and can make it difficult for the individual to keep their eyes open, creating a ‘sleepy’ appearance. In severe cases, the upper field of vision may be partially blocked, which can result in brow ache and fatigue.
Excess skin or fat is removed through blepharoplasty and an improvement to the appearance and function of the eyelids will assist in the overall ability for the person to conduct normal activities.
Bruising is common after the procedure, with the appearance of ‘black eyes’ to be expected. As the eyelids heal, the bruising vanishes.
Incisions are usually made within the skins creases, so that over time, they become barely noticeable.
